2 of 2 people found the following review helpful. This is a great book for practicing the Common Core Standards By Erin Shafer This is a great book for practicing the Common Core Standards. Each standard has 5-15 practice questions along with a detailed answer key. Some of the numbers in the questions (particularly fractions) were hard to read because it looked like they had been scanned in. Overall, it's a good book for review of the 5th grade concepts.

I have a been looking for a book that would provide real world problem by expert teachers. Thank you!
3 of 3 people found the following review helpful. Excellent Math Prep Book By Rachel Sloan-Rittenhouse I have purchased the grade 4, 5, and 6 books of Common Core Practice Math from Lumos Learning. They are different from other preparation and practice workbooks for a couple of reasons. First, the answer section not only gives the correct answer from the multiple choice question, but it explains how to work and solve the problem. That is helpful for the student to learn what they are doing right and what they are doing wrong, but also helps the parent be able to work with their child on how to solve the problems (especially if it has been a while since the parent had to work a math problem). Second, the books are not stand alones. Each book purchased has access to a full year of online questions and problems to supplement the book questions. Again, these give explanations and work through for each question. Third, this series helps identify problem areas for the student so extra emphasis and effort can be made in those areas. I highly recommend the books.
