Love the book, not the condition of this book By Somewhere librarian My 8 year old grandson and I love this series and usually finish the book as soon as we get it. Unfortunately, this book arrived in damaged condition, but we still read as best we could. Am returning the book for a replacement since we will be donating the entire series to our local library and want the books to be in the best possible condition so other children may enjoy them. Already pre-ordered the books due out in May and Nov. Hopefully, no issues with damage with either of those.

But then a rude squire informs Prince Lucas's friend Clara that girls can't race horses or become knights; only boys are capable of those things. Clara is determined to prove him wrong.Imaginative children will likely enjoy watching the tournament come to life, with its jousting knights, flying dragons, skillful jugglers, and more. The "people can do anything they set their minds to" and "girls can do anything boys can do" themes are not new, nor are the story and character arcs that support them, but they're still worth the repetition. Like the rest of the series, this beginning chapter book features simple language, a large font, and plenty of illustrations. Because of multiple references to previous books in the series, this one would work best if read in order.

Gentle fantasy adventure, ideal for young readers and great bedtime reading By Jennifer Lally The Wrenly books have definitely been a big hit in our house. My son likes to have chapter books read to him at bed time, but because he is 3YO we need to make sure that there is not something in the book that will upset him. This has happened in the past with series such as the Magic Treehouse books. These books are very gentle, there is some minor peril, lots of adventure and team work, and of course some dragons, The way that the species/character classes are introduced is really nicely done, and the overriding message is that even if people are different in the way they look, they are still good people. Each story has a gentle moral component - such as being responsible, taking care of others, doing the right thing, working hard, respecting others etc.We will be buying more in this series as they are just what were looking for
