This is a great map of Western Washington with a close up of the west coast. Also, one whole section shows street names and main attractions in areas I plan on visiting - Seattle Center, Downtown, Belltown, Waterfront, Pioneer Square, Pike Place, Queen Anne, Capitol Hill, Volunteer Park, and more in BIG enough print for me to read! If you are going to be a tourist in Seattle buy this map. I was so excited to get exactly what I wanted. And it's laminated!

Unfortunately it doesn't cover the city of Seattle as I expected, glaring omissions in terms of leaving out Ballard area, much of the northern part of the city, and West Seattle. So it fails as a city map (and even as a tourist map unless a visitor is only going to stay in a limited area) and I had to buy another solution. The recently updated Not for Tourists map book is small enough to take it with you and has much more information (and I would recommend it for tourists as well, helpful mentions of cafes/restaurants, nightlife spots, coffeehouses, music and cultural venues, etc.).(I ordered this from outside the region, so I couldn't look it over and instead relied on online recommendations and curated lists, which seemed to point to this being the best choice. It's okay, but leaves out so many areas that it hasn't become the essential I had expected (I like paper maps to help me get a sense of a place and get to know and understand how things fit together and are spread out spatially. Photographic (and spatial) memory works for me much better with paper resources, I spend too much time with digital screens that that content tends to be much more ephemeral in my memory.)Though I respect that mapmakers often include a few subtle errors so that they can show when someone has copied their work, I can't understand how/why this mapmaker botched something that dominates a city's identity so much as UDub (no, I didn't attend/apply, but this region is hardcore re: Huskies and UW's role in the area; it just raises bit of credibility/details issue to get something so basic and dominant wrong, raises concern what else is wrong?).
