About the Author Years ago, I used to compete in many extreme sports and traveled far and wide to practice them. Then I became injured in gymnastics. I tore my plantar fascia. Then my shoulder labrums. Over time I developed a rare nerve disease called Erythromelalgia... Merce Brown *****I liked this book a lot, and for what it is, it's a five star book--it is written in a conversational style and not filled with footnotes and citations and references--it is a motivational book and a description of some solid health information from one person's viewpoint. The author has, at a very young age, recovered from some really difficult illnesses, and has a unique and interesting approach to a healthy lifestyle. This is a short, logical, and informative book. I didn't agree with everything in it, but I did agree with enough to make it a great read and something that was very inspirational for me--I need to get serious about my health and get on the right track immediately, and if this is you, and you don't care what it takes and are ready to work, I think you'll find much to like here.The author's philosophy of health is very rational: (1) Give the body the raw materials (food) that it needs daily, (2) Avoid toxic environmental chemicals (poisons), (3) Fix existing health ailments if possible, and (4) Maintain health. His dramatic approach will not be for everyone--not for people who are wishy-washy about being ready to work or for people looking for an "everything in moderation" approach, but for those who want to create their own roadmap to good health quickly. The diet advocated ideally is a raw foods diet with limited clean meat of certain types. The author goes into a lot of detail about what foods specifically are the best, and what toxins to avoid, possible supplements to take, and more. But again, in my case, it was information I knew, but I needed to be kicked in the rear end, and the author achieved that--thus the five star rating!Highly recommended, for those willing to seriously pursue an anti-moderation healthy lifestyle.*****

1 of 1 people found the following review helpful. REALITY CHECK!!! By Bobby James This guy consistently puts out books worth reading again and again. As a student of natural healing for over 20 years, it took me a long time to read, analyze and come to my own conclusions on health, wealth, and just life in general. The author sums all of this up very neatly in this relatively short book. It all begins with the founding fathers principles of self-reliance, self-responsibility, self-determination, and ultimately self-actualization. If you're looking for short cuts, magic pills, or the "marvels of modern medicine" (lol) look elsewhere. These are old school teachings that have withstood the test of time for thousands of years. As a medical student, this guy knows better than most people do all about the Medical industries true mission and how the American Malpractice Association looks the other way as they cross over back and forth from the Private to the Public Sector "protecting" you. Definitely worth a read, but more importantly taking the actionable advice presented in it. Sorry to say that there is nobody racing for your cures. You have to do that for yourself. The organizers of the "race" are only racing for themselves (their favorite charity).

1 of 1 people found the following review helpful. An easy and enjoyable book ! By rh522 Under a provocative title, William Prowse's new book explores the ways to stay healthy. Based on the principle that " it is easier to prevent a disease than treating a disease " it explains in a clear and easy manner 4 steps to do so: get the required nutrients, avoid toxic chemicals and pseudo-nutrients, fix specific ailments, maintain health. This approach seems very wise and low-cost because in my experience up to 40 or 45, the body forgives whatever excess (junk food, lack of exercise, poor sleep etc..) but after that you are picking up the tab !I especially like the 3rd part in which for each part of the body (brain, kidney, joint etc..), the author explains the possible causes of the problems you are facing and gives a list of supplements you can take.This is an enjoyable and clearly helpful book with a lot of useful information; I learn for instance that you need to consume fat if you sit for long hours and soreness after a workout doesn't come from lactic acid.My only criticism and the reason why I give it a 4 is because of the title; i think you can be catchy without using strong language. Even Jean-Paul Sartre didn't get away with his " La p*** respectueuse " (decently translated as " The respectful prostitute" ) !
