There is no magic script that works for all of us. As we live our lives, we must take time to review and evaluate our lives as led. Reflecting on our sorrows and joys, and even mundane activities, is not a burden, but a richly deserved duty to ourselves. I feel fortunate that my path, thus far into middle-age, has granted me wisdom and experience that may resonate with others.

First words to my thoughts about this book.The author takes on subjects which polite society considers taboo. No not that, Rather challenging long held ingrained beliefs, traditions, religion, and empty economic successes are all challenged in this wonderfully candid book. I especially found it insightful knowing the perspective from one born and raised in the middle east, of not only the aforementioned 'hands off' topics I mentioned, but especially her objective views of the American Dream. Ha! this proves we're more alike than different. For as an American born middle aged male I related to nearly every one of her views as closely similar to my own especially during our formative years. Who and what we are often times have more to do with nature over nurture. Like the author, I rejected nearly all my early teachings of traditions and a need for belonging from those around me who loved me and meant nothing but the best for me. I commend this brave woman for putting all her cards on the table -to deal life as she sees it. The only thing that matters in life is how YOU see it.Finally, the author issues a call to action of 'it's time we'' eliminate this or that tightly held belief or tradition and such. What I've discovered as a more efficient approach - FOR ME- is to change myself. I'd say I've done fairly well at living a life of freedom in an ever more unfree world, Sort of Claude Brown-esqu. I enjoyed this book and highly recommend it to the open minded reader or at least the brave. Cheers!
