About the Author
Russ Kick is known for his groundbreaking and uniquely informative books, which have sold over half a million copies. He is the editor of the three-volume anthology The Graphic Canon: The World's Greatest Literature as Comics and Visuals (Seven Stories Press). Perfect for the non-committal By Tonya Aiossa Reading a book is a commitment, and most people I know have proposed to many a book and then found they had cold feet as the book sat, lifeless on their shelves, or carted around for a bit without much more than having the pages flipped every now and then. The opportunity cost of reading chapter after chapter, even if there is some second-order desire to do so, doesn't always make the cut against the ease of switching on the television or finding something requiring a shorter attention span on the interwebs. If you're reading this review because you're yet again worried about buying a book you won't read, fear not. This tastefully curated collection of quotations speak loudly in their brevity, so loud as to capture your attention and change your course for the task or day at hand. There's no need to start at the beginning nor read through to the end as each thought is complete, if even provocative. Perfect for the non-committal, or those of us who are overly committed to the thousand other books on our shelves, I have found myself picking this book up from my desk two or so times each day to find a little treasure to fondle in my mind as I work. This morning I woke to Carl Jung's irritating observation that what irritates me in others lends insight into myself... Agitating, isn't it? I will note that I purchased this book in kindle format, and then again in paperback. This book is meant for paging, not tapping.

A Hip Bartlett's Book of Quotations for the 21st Century By Hagbard Celine Russ Kick is back to doing what he does best: sifting literature from high to low for hidden and overlooked gems.
