By captainwinters This book is an excellent companion for anyone hoping to teach the various writing and text formats for German IB Diploma candidates. It has a wealth of information on how to write each format successfully, even going so far as to include a checklist of desirable components. While the texts available for reading a slightly sparse and the chapters are light on material the practical nature of the writing instruction earns the book five stars easily.

The book is set up for the new IB exam, covers all main topics, incorporates various sources throughout the entire book and has examples of all text types at the end of the book. We used it in the testing year, and all of my students scored well above passing. I especially liked the chapter preparing students for the written assignment. There are a lot of interesting texts that aren't all articles in the book. It's not the be all end all program, but it will definitely be helpful and is definitely linked to all the core and optional topics.
