0 of 0 people found the following review helpful. Very cute By Marty We have quite a few beginning reader books from Penguin Young Readers, Scholastic Kindergarten Kids, and I Can Read. They all have one, quite unfortunate, thing in common - the stories are a little dull.That said, this is one of has a possible dinosaur egg in it, which provides some suspense, a dramatic twist (spoiler alert: it's not a dinosaur egg Max found!), and the picture style is what I like to see in kids books - clear, simple, and not from clip-art... There's another one by the same author/illustrator duo Max Has a Fish (Penguin Young Readers, L1), and it's on our list.

It has just enough word repetition for him to become familiar with some words but not so much that it makes your eyes roll. Recommend for beginning reader.
