It's very hard to come out of the shell specially if you are born shy and timid. I was, and it wasn't until college that I came out of my shell, and become more sociable. Still my shyness is there at present, however, I am more able to manage it than before. This book will teach its readers to start with setting your mind into a certain goal. Such as "becoming more social will make you super happy in a positive way". By doing so, you will be able to compare the emotions before and after setting your mind.

Great companion guide to the novel especially for reading groups By Cool Stuff on Amazon This Instaread is a well-written summary & analysis of Kristin Hannah's wonderful novel, The Nightingale. Set in World War II, it tells the very powerful and moving story of two sisters and their family living through the invasion and occupation of France by the Germans. The characters are well developed and the accurate details of life in France during the war make this very realistic. I found this Instaread to be very helpful as a guide while reading the book. The analysis of themes and characters aided understanding and enhanced the reading experience for me. I highly recommend this as a companion guide to the novel especially if you are in a reading group.

By Evelyn Lloyd My book club had chosen to read The Nightingale by Kristin Hannah, and well it's a wonderful book, at some of the meetings I found myself getting behind on where I should be in the book, so I got this to help me catch up when I didn't have the time to read the actual book.And I really have to say, the people in my book club can't even tell that I didn't catch up with them, and this goes into analysis of the different sections of the book so I can be sure to at least form some ideas to share, and the analysis has actually helped me understand the book even more than most of my fellow club members.If you're reading The Nightingale, I'd suggest picking this up as a companion to help you understand the characters and themes, and I don't think you'll be sorry, especially if you have a book club to get to!

It does a great job of condensing down everything that you need to know in one short and easy to read package. I would highly recommend this book to anyone who wants to understand the book better, or even those who want to know what happens in one without having to read. If you actually read the book the analysis is great because it gives you a way of looking at the book like the author intended.

The collection starts with the mundane but every interesting political history. Then it gets into the specifics of the youth movements from the internet to music and dress. The last essay is a prose poem about the history of the Islamic Republic.Great read for anyone wanting to take that extra step beyond the headlines.

This book basically deals with mindfulness meditation. It teaches one to be mindful in a lot of things.Within the early pages of the book are benefits of the mindfulness and then, there are tips on how to get started.This is a really great book and for those that want to start practicing mindful meditation, this book will definitely put you on the right path. While reading about mindful meditation, I realized that I have been doing something similar, without the idea that I am actually practicing mindful meditation unknowingly. Now I know better, and would be improving on myself and adopt fully, the true form of mindful meditation.

It gives me a peace of mind at work when I'm trying to relax from my annoying boss. It gives me a very clear mind at home so I can deal with everyone and zone them out while hearing nothing and relaxing. One of the good things about it is that you don't have to be experienced to do any of this. The only thing you have to do is get the book and read a few pages and there you go you're a grandmaster at it. It very easy and interesting to read and will keep you anxious about every page.

Only wished it was released years ago, before I wasted so much money on other books in our specialty. No other book is even close to representing the information contained in this masterpiece. The diagrams & pictures are so detailed, a monkey could follow the instructions. Pure genius. If you don't own this book, you are wrong. A must have addition to your knowledge library.

It weighs about 20 lbs. It is available on Kindle but it's another $300 plus. I feel that it should be available on your personal Kindle if you purchased the hardback. That is the only reason for 4 stars. I would have given it 5 stars but for over $300, the Kindle version should be available at no extra cost. It's an "at home book". I will update once I have read more of the book and/or if I have made an error and am indeed permitted to use the Kindle version. The other option would have been to make it a 2 or even a 3 volume set as a 6 to 7 lb book is easy enough to tote.

The format is a step-by-step layout which I find the best way to learn, especially when reviewing surgeries prior to going to the OR. I find myself making my notes in a step-wise manner and this book nails it. Would highly recommend this.

Plenty of esoteric secrets to pique your interest and curiosity.Villains you will loathe, a hero and heroine savvy enough to solve the intricate puzzle, you will support them in their relentless pursuit.Full of action, extremely fast paced, not to mention riveting. A story offering suspense, mystery, thrills and a little romance, the myriad of twists and turns pull it all together for an educational roller coaster, quite a cerebral ride. An adventure in reading with flawless translation.

Le Guermand is a Frenchman who joined the Legion of French Volunteers Against Bolshevism but changed sides. He is a traitor to his country. But this will be one of his lessor crimes. Le Guermand is going to go on to work in a newly formed shadowy organization whose mission is to perpetuate the beliefs of Adolf Hitler. That is just the surface, though. The real truth is much darker and a great deal more deadly. Sophie was carrying documents to Jerusalem to the scholar. Documents that might possibly shed some light on an ancient practice said to bring the supplicant immeasurable power. The Shadow Ritual.This was an exciting book. It's a story about the Thule, an organization that has perpetuated the idea of a pure Aryan race, and their hunt for the elements that would allow them to perform the Shadow Ritual. It is a treasure hunt that has one side believing that in the end they will be able to realize the dream of a powerful Aryan race that will dominate the world, and the other side trying to catch up. Marcas and Zewinski come into the investigation to solve a murder and end up knee-deep in a conspiracy that goes back to a time well before they were even born, and anyone who gets in the way has a distressing tendency to end up dead. Gruesomely dead.There is plenty of history here too. Hitler had his henchmen seize massive amounts of documents from various organizations looking for any occult references (or what he termed as being occult, anyway). The Russians got to Berlin ahead of the rest of the Allies and managed to make off with a great deal of this information and kept it for decades before returning it to the various countries and organizations that it was taken from. There is also the history of the Freemasons, as well as the various rumors that have always seemed to follow them.The race to find the elements that will allow the completion of the Shadow Ritual is a bloody one. The Thule will not allow the opportunity to slip through their hands and as Marcas and Zewinski are drawn deeper into the conspiracy, their lives are at risk. It's a story of a group of rabid believers who are willing to go to any lengths to make their vision of what they want the world to be become reality, and the people determined to find the truth as well as stop them. What they both find is going to be totally unexpected.It's a darned fine story.My thanks to NewGalley, the authors and publisher for making the book available for me to read and review. I enjoyed it immensely.

"Flesh falls from the bones" By Cheryl Stout SHADOW RITUAL is an action-packed thriller that follows two separate secret societies - the Freemasons and the Thule - on a deadly quest.The book started out a bit slow for me but was soon barreling along non-stop, alternating between societies. A lot of history was included in this tale and it was interesting to me especially to see where the Freemasons began.The synopsis of the book on Goodreads says this is actually based on a true story. Hmm...seems farfetched to me but then truth can be stranger than fiction.I liked the male and female protagonists of the story that were at each other's throats throughout the book.And there were some truly evil people in the book. If you have a weak stomach, this might not be the tale for you.If you like thrillers or historical fiction especially World War II era, try this one out. I don't think you'll be disappointed.NOTE: I received this book from Le French Book through Net Galley in exchange for my honest review.

CHAPTER 1

“Throw the ball!” I bark. “Throw the ball! THROW THE BALL!”

My paws bounce up and down in the cold snow each time I bark. They love playing fetch. My tail wags wildly. It loves playing fetch, too.

“Throw the ball!” I bark again.

My two-leg, Josh, finally throws the bright white ball across our yard. It is heading straight for Josh’s two-leg friend, Sophie. But I’m faster than she is. Before Sophie can catch the ball, I leap up, open my mouth, and grab it in midair.

Wiggle, waggle, weird. The ball is melting in my mouth. It’s not a ball anymore. It’s icy-cold water. This isn’t a fetch ball—it’s a snowball!

I don’t like this kind of ball. I can’t run it back to Josh. And he can’t pick it up and throw it again. Snowballs are definitely not made for playing fetch.

But Josh and Sophie are still playing with the snowballs.

Bam! A snowball hits Sophie. It explodes. Now it isn’t a ball anymore. It’s just snow.

Josh bends over and starts to make another ball.

Bash! Sophie throws a ball right at the place Josh’s tail would be—if he had a tail. It explodes all over him.

Josh smiles and laughs. But he doesn’t throw a ball back at Sophie.

I guess Josh and Sophie have gotten tired of throwing balls that can’t be fetched, because now they are walking toward the gate. I follow right behind them.

“Where are we going?” I bark to Josh. “Are we going to play a new game? Are we going to play fetch the stick? Are we going to play chew the sock?”

The last time I played chew the sock, Josh got angry. I don’t know why. It’s so much fun to chew on a sock. Especially one that smells like Josh’s feet.

“Sparky, stay!” Josh says. He holds up his hand.

I know what stay means. It means I have to stand still, even though Josh and Sophie are walking away.

Josh and Sophie leave the yard. They close the gate. A minute later I hear a rumbling noise. The noise starts out loud. Then it gets quieter and quieter.

I know what that means. Josh and Sophie have gone away in his metal machine with the four round paws.

Sometimes Josh takes me to fun places like the park or the dog-toy store in his metal machine. But today I have to stay here while Josh and Sophie visit fun places.

Wiggle, waggle, boo! Two-legs have all the fun.

Well, not all the fun. I can go places, too. And I don’t need a metal machine to do it. All I need is my magic bone.

My magic bone is amazing. One big bite and kaboom! I go far, far away. Like that time my magic bone kaboomed me all the way to Tokyo, Japan. I got to eat squishy fishy called sashimi with some Ninja Dogs. And I got to fight like a sumo wrestler!

If you have passed the beginning stages of guitar, specifically if you know how to play the core chords already and know your Fretboard, then this book combined with the first book will take you from intermediate to expert. You will go from the world of riffs and licks to full songs. You will master the Pentatonic scale along with barre chords. When finished with both books you will not only be able to play but understand the underlying reasons for doing what you are doing.An additional bonus is that this author will actually respond to your questions. When I was reading the first book, I struggled with Modes. I know, hard to believe the concept of Modes being difficult to understand, but I sent at least three questions to the author to clarify and confirm my understanding. To my delight, he actually responded and provided a full answer. So when you consider investing in a new book, I would strongly suggest that having an author that will respond to your questions combined with the success of the first book as strong evidence for purchasing this book.I recommend buying the videos in the first book direct from the creator too.

9 of 10 people found the following review helpful. Great books and great author By Andi Hendrix I have read Fretboard Theory Vol 1 and am working through Fretboard Theory Vol 2. These books teach you guitar theory that is relevant and will help your understanding of what you are playing. Many of the theory books I have bought over the years are dry and complicated whereas Desi makes the theory interesting and easy to understand.You will have to apply yourself though! Do that and I am confident these books will be the best Guitar Theory books you will ever come across.In addition Desi is contactable and will respond to queries and enquiries, he's not just in it for the money - makes you feel like he cares.

By Ted Simms Fretboard Theory 2 is a must for guitarists and bass players, once they work through Theory 1.Also, listen to Desi's podcasts available through itunes. They really support the information in the books.I find that I am returning to FB Theory 1 to review the CAGED chord system and the pentatonic scales, so both books are an excellent resource that you will keep going back to them.Desi's books will make you a better player. From the Author WHY I WROTE THIS BOOKThe Writers' Phrase Book series is a project that was born out of frustration while I was writing my first story. I would often get stuck and have to dig through thousands of pages in dozens of novels hoping to find the inspiration to write similar scenes. The problem with that approach was the amount of time it took, and how impossible it was trying to locate a few half-remembered sentences among oceans of text. Sure, I'd find a few, but never all of what I was looking for, so I thought to myself, "Wouldn't it be great to have all the inspiration I needed in just one book?" I searched far and wide, but aside from a few written for the romance genre, there was nothing like what I wanted for horror. That's when I knew I had to write the Horror Writers' Phrase Book and expand it into other genres, starting with the Post-Apocalypse Writers' Phrase Book. Not because I claim to be the best writer in the world, but because I'm the only one who had the idea (and the guts) to do it. HOW DO I USE THIS BOOK?This book isn't designed to replace your creativity, it's intended to enhance it:

• You can use the descriptions in this book as writing prompts.
• You can use them "as is" or you can mix-and-match to create new ones.
• Maybe reading this book jars something loose to get you past the writers' block that's holding you back.

This is a book of ideas and inspiration for authors at every level. If you think you know everything about how to write, no book can help you. But the truth is, nobody knows everything. Southmayd Are you trying to write the next Dystopian/Post-Apocalyptic best seller? Does it bug you that the closest thing you've come to an apocalypse is running out of toothpaste before your next hot date? Then this is the book for you! With sections about monomolecular weapons, looting and scavenging, radiation sickness, and apocalyptic places, 'The Post-Apocalypse Phrase Book' is a useful tool for any writer to have in their box of tricks. It's also a fun read and a way to kick start your creative juices. I loved the End of the World section.'The enemy unleashed an EMP that sent us back to the Dark Ages' is an evocative phrase that brings any number of ideas to mind. There are also samples of the author's other books, which will whet your appetite for more. Pick up a copy today. You won't be disappointed!

By Melissa AKA LoneCreatureTM I'm using this already, on the first day I bought it.Now, I'm a prolific writer but even I need a little nudge and this book is perfect if you write in these genres. BUT, even if you don't I think you will still find this a useful tool. Just substitute words for your genre.What the book does is offer lists of phrases with key words specific to the genre. There is a terrific range of topics in the book for phrases concerning everything from animals to robots to zombies.Jackson has included some previews of his stories at the end of the book - along with author details.

It's catered specifically to a post-apocalyptic crowd, and I think that shoe fits perfectly; however, there are a ton of great ideas in this book just waiting to be transferred into hundreds of different applications. If you're a writer, content creator, blogger, or just looking to expand your knowledge and vocabulary, this is a really great piece of work.
