He started his career as a journalist in the discontinued satirical newspaper called O Pasquim, becoming well-known due to his criticism directed at the military dictatorship. At Globo television he worked as a writer for a satirical show called “Satiricom.” At the Educational channel in Rio de Janeiro he created and coordinated the program called “Tribunal da História” (“The Court of History”). He published the short stories book A Relatividade da Infidelidade (The Relativism of Infidelity). 1 of 1 people found the following review helpful. but also all those that like a good story By Maio This is Mauricio Wrtots' first book translated into English and his first novel. He is known in Brazil for his short stories and his contribution to the famous (in the past) weekly "O Pasquim". In this book Wrots surprises by getting into a religious and mystical territory, while keeping his cynical humor. The book will please not only Jews, but also all those that like a good story. I read it in the Portuguese original; I just browsed the English translation, it seems to have kept faithful to Wrots' style. When I started it I couldn't stop till I finished it, it's light, inspiring and funny.

About the Author Ernest Percival Rhys (17 July 1859 – 25 May 1946) was a Welsh-English writer, best known for his role as founding editor of the Everyman's Library series of affordable classics. He wrote essays, stories, poetry, novels and plays. He was born in London, and brought up in Carmarthen and Newcastle-upon-Tyne. After working in the coal industry, he was employed doing editorial work on the Camelot Series of 65 reprints and translations from 1886, for five years, while he turned to writing as a profession. He was a founder member in 1890 of the Rhymers' Club in London, and a contributor to The Book of the Rhymers' Club (1893). In 1906, he persuaded J. M. Dent, the publisher, for whom he was working on The Lyric Poets series, to start out on the ambitious Everyman project, aiming to publish 1000 titles; the idea was to put out ten at a time. The target was eventually reached, ten years after Rhys died.

He realizes that nothing he has can improve his standing-- not Beauty, or the Five Wits, or Worldly Goods--and the insufficiency of these things.It is only a little like Pilgrim's Progress--like a pared down version, almost. It smacks of Shakespeare because it seems to be written to be acted.

About the Author Paul Brodie is the President of BrodieEDU, an education consulting firm that specializes in the development of literacy programs, motivational seminars for universities and corporations, and wellness education. Brodie also serves as a Special Education Teacher for the Hurst-Euless-Bedford Independent School District. From 2011-2014, Brodie served as a Grant Coordinator for the ASPIRE program in the Birdville Independent School District. Previously, Brodie spent many years in the corporate world and decided to leave a lucrative career in the medical field to follow his passion and transitioned into education. From 2008 to 2011, he was a highly successful teacher in Arlington, TX where he taught English as a Second Language. Brodie turned a once struggling ESL program into one of the top programs in the school district. Many of his students have moved on to journalism, AVID, art classes, and a number of the students exited the ESL program entirely. His methods included music, movies, graphic novels, and many high engagement methods including using technology, games, cultural celebrations, and getting parents involved in their children's education. Brodie's approach has been called unconventional but highly effective, revolutionary, and highly engaging. Brodie earned an M.A. in Teaching from Louisiana College and B.B.A. in Management from the University of Texas at Arlington. He recently completed his first book: Eat Less and Move More: My Journey. Look, if your going to tell me kale salad tastes as good as pizza, I'm going to stop you right there because you have now lost all credibility with me. Great read and could certainly relate, I highly recommend taking the short time it takes to read this book!

All too often when it comes to reading about health and fitness, it can feel hard to relate to others. He makes you feel like not only are you not alone in your journey, but that it's okay to fail and get back up again. His workout playlists and sample diet plans get you motivated and excited to take action as soon as you put down the book! A great read and fantastic stories about staying in charge of your life regardless of your circumstances!

By Lindsay It is very easy to look at a lofty goal and become very overwhelmed, almost immediately. With so many weight loss tricks and tips around, it can be daunting at the very least when choosing the best route for you. In Paul's book, he walks the journey with you, through the highs and the lows. His process involves hard work and dedication, yet shows it is extremely possible to get to your weight loss goals. I would highly recommend this book for anyone who wants to accomplish similar goals.

I work as a professional tutor, and can attest that content-wise, this book is excellent for preparation. (Far better than the Barron version I've seen.) Nevertheless, the kindle version is formatted terribly - the answers are listed using 1, 2, 3, 4, 5 instead of A, B, C, D, E. The formatting of indents in conjunction with the numbers make the questions in the practice tests very confusing. Questions refer to passages by "first stanza" and "second stanza" but the passages are formatted such that the stanzas are indistinguishable. Buy this book in person. You won't regret it. The kindle version isn't worth your time or money. I've asked for a refund.In addition, as a recommendation, Princeton Review publishes their AP test books with downloadable PDFs. Having a kindle version with a downloadable PDF would be very helpful; it's near impossible to do a test like this (constantly referring back to a passage) in an online version without immense frustration.

I like to be able to say the basics such as greetings, introductions and "how much" as well as names of foods.Spanish for Beginners did not disappoint. I like the way that the author went from how to pronounce certain letters, to how to introduce yourself and even the little bit of grammar - always helpful. When I travel I love to eat the local foods (who doesn't} and the table of basic food terms is going to be very helpful.I'm glad to have this book. It will be so easy to just take out my mobile and look up the words as I need them. Recommend this book for anyone planning to visit a Spanish speaking country.

Great book on learning Spanish By Amazon Customer A thoroughly detailed book which I would highly recommend, this is great for indepth Spanish studying but also for learning common phrases in Spanish to use (which is the main reason I read this). It empowers and encourages parents, informs and educates teachers and entertains all. Danielson's chapter by chapter details of the math learned at each grade level allows readers to see the progression children make throughout their mathematics journey. This book made me excited be along for this ride with my own child.

5 of 5 people found the following review helpful. it was great to see how the standards progressed By Marty Joyce The author of the book, Christopher Danielson, (on Twitter as @trianglemancsd), does a comprehensive job of summarizing and interpreting the Common Core standards for grades K through 12. As someone who has only taught grades 6 to 8, it was great to see how the standards progressed. I also am now much more able to answer anyone's questions about the standards.Don't be thrown off by it being for parents, or for dummies for that matter. This book is for teachers, administrators, and of course parents and anyone interested in math education. I actually was obsessed with Macs for Dummies and the author David Pogue as a teenager and love the style of the book and the readability.I took notes on interesting points from the book and some questions that I have. One topic I liked when he discussed fractions was common numerators. We don't talk about being able to compare fractions with common numerators ever such as what's bigger, 2/3 or 2/4. He also talked about how you can't compare two different units, it's like comparing apples and orange. He also pointed a confusing yet commonly incorrectly solved order of operation problem that is 48 / 2(9+3). I got it wrong the first time too.An interesting question to ask a 5th or 6th grade class is: why is there no such thing as a LCF or GCM (least common factor or greatest common multiple). This will create a very interesting discussion about vocabulary.When talking about statistics, a cool way would be comparing heights of 5th and 6th, or 6th and 7th graders at a school. The Common Core does call for mean absolute deviation, though I am still unclear about the applications and what type of context it could be introduced to students in.I liked the idea of having a discussion of how old your dog is, in dog years and human years, and reason how and why they are different. I honestly can't remember off the top of my head unless I looked at the relationship of two examples.In 7th and 8th grade classes I have found myself label 2/3 as a decimal, as 0.666... and call 6 the repeating part so you only need a bar over the 6. Well, there is actually a name for that. 6 is the "repetend," the repeating part of a decimal.One question I had, was in 8th grade he said the standards introduce point slope form. In CPM's Core Connections 3 curriculum there is no mention of this form, only standard form and slope-intercept form. So, I am a bit concerned that I did not cover that last year.Lastly, I was very pleased in the Pythagorean theorem section he mentioned the distinction between acute and obtuse triangles side lengths. I brainstormed before how to keep students from not remembering which way the inequality sign faced, the two legs squared and added together or the hypotenuse squared. Apparently he thought about this too, because he showed the most common acute triangle you can think of: an equilateral triangle. Which we know has equal sides and is equiangular at 60 degrees each. So, if you have sides of 2. 2 squared plus 2 squared is 8. The last side, 2 squared, is 4. So, clearly, if the hypotenuse squared is smaller than the triangle is an acute triangle. I hope that made sense. It makes sense when you draw a picture.Oh yes, and the best anecdote of the book was when the author's son got an increase in his bed time on his birthday. So, his son saw a pattern and reasoned he could predict how late is bed time would eventually go. Great example of #tmwyk (talking math with your kids) unprompted.All in all I enjoyed this book and would recommend it to any math teacher, administrator, or parent at any grade level. It gives you tips on how you can help your student think mathematically and how to help them without doing their homework.

It clearly helped me understand for both my kindergartener and 2nd grader! Definitely a keeper as they advance through the grades. Was entertaining, enlightening and very helpful.

Instead it turned out to be really fun, engaging and informative. Gaves me a whole new understanding and appreciation of Chinese people online. So creative. Highly recommend!

By Heathermcris Unfortunately, if you're pretty knowledgeable about how to go about writing and were looking for some new ideas... you might be disappointed? Depends.I learned a few new things, but most of the content is similar to what I've read in online articles. I'm not disappointed at all. I think it's a great guideline and the tips given are solid and well-explained.The chapter where it's mentioned that a significant number of HR reps love looking at personal web sites but almost no applicants have one.... Wow. Never would have thought that many cared about that. lol. I have one but only toyed with the idea of adding it to my resume, so I'm gonna give that a try and see how that works out. ;)Overall: great guideline, to-the-point descriptions and contains relevant information.

It's not something you're really explicitly taught, you just have to guess, and usually you just plug your information into an online resume-builder. This book is very brief and very straight forward. It doesn't just deal with actual formatting questions, but steps back and looks at the whole process. It gives tips on how to examine your past work and experience, which enables you to write a much better, stronger and even more honest resume.

This ebook became very helpful for me as its only for beginners. The sample given in the book is a very basic format of resume. I learned about the common mistakes people do while writing resumes and cover letters. I can hopefully produce a well-organized bio-data of myself now.

He has throughly enjoyed reading it and found the writing style to be fun. It was a very well written account of the Irish and why they are good and hearty people. I originally skimmed through the chapters after my husband finished reading, but found myself going back and reading the whole book. Well written and a great read!

The book is written in such a way that you think you know what is about to come but then it's Irish-ness kind of takes you for a ride lol I love the way it gives you a little bit of history about the Irish but also the reality of everything. It's amazing how misunderstood other cultures can be without a basic understanding of them. Great book!! Highly recommended. I would love to see a f*Ck you im Jewish book!

I wasn't sure how much I'd enjoy it, or if I would even find it funny when I purchased it, but I must admit that it's hard to put down!The book itself is finely made with a rich leather(like?) cover.Very interesting read and feels very nice holding in your hands!
