By Elizabeth Pavlovna Progress has brought about an easier lifestyle. We no longer need to cut wood to heat our homes and stoves to cook and heat water. We no longer have to plant, harvest, can, preserve our foods. We can cover distances it would have taken us a day by foot in an hour by car. So yes, from that point our lives have become easier.But progress has brought on a challenge of a different sort. Our previous simple lifestyles have become complicated, crowded and busy. We run on a schedule and even calendar "quality" time to spend with our children. And yet, whilst performing our calendared task, our minds are otherwise occupied with yesterday's missed opportunities and tomorrow's plans. I always feel as if my mind continues to race everyday, and sometimes I need to step back and breathe. This book talks about the benefits of mindfulness, and how you can practice. I thought it was interesting to learn about he physical and psychological benefits of mindfulness. The book definitely gets you to think as our lives get busier and busier.
