I've just used this edition in my class on politics of the Middle East, and, while the book was sometimes a hard going for my students, with my help they cracked it. The text is interesting, conceptual, empirically rich, full of data, and insights. I warmly recommend the book for both undergraduate and graduate courses on the Middle East,
