About the Author

Charles Lushbaugh after having earned his bachelor’s degree in Criminal Justice and a master’s degree in Public Administration was hired as a Postal Inspector. After a few years he left this position and was hired by the U.S. Marshal’s Service in Sacramento, California. Eventually he became a deputy with the Sacramento Sheriff’s Department. He served in the corrections and patrol divisions prior to being promoted and placed in charge of the departments training academy. He attended the FBI National Academy and retired at the rank of Lieutenant after 26 years of service. He taught at the California State University at Sacramento in the division of Criminal Justice. During his tenure as a lecturer he taught a variety of courses including Basic and Advance Criminal Investigation, Interviewing and the Detection of Deception and Drug Abuse and Criminal Behavior. Paul Weston, the original author of this text, was born in New York City. He joined the police force there at a young age and rapidly rose through the ranks and retired at the rank of Chief Deputy. He moved west to become a professor at the California State University at Sacramento. He served in this capacity until he took leave to become the Chief of the California State Police. When he returned to teaching he became to Chair of the division of Criminal Justice. He authored a number of books on Criminal Justice topics such as Arson Investigation, Police Personnel Management, Police Organization and Management, and Criminal Investigation.

This book goes over all aspects of basic ordinary least squares (OLS) regression, assuming a basic statistics background. Gordon uses Stata as her software of choice, but includes an appendix of translating commands across SPSS, SAS, and Stata for users of those other programs. Unlike some other statistics books that I have used as a graduate student in the social sciences, this book combines both software commands and actual theory to teach you not only how to execute a regression, but also to fundamentally understand where these coefficients come from and how to interpret them. Gordon covers bivariate and multivariate regression, dummy variables, interactions, nonlinearity, and regression assumptions as well as a basic introduction to Stata.This book requires no previous knowledge of Stata or regression, and so is a great book for beginners looking to sink their teeth into something. Gordon does include some basic proofs, which some students may find confusing, but it is often clear that the student should understand the underlying principle instead of the algebraic proof.This book does NOT cover over forms of regression (logit, probit, etc.), so just be aware.

The content is full of good starting points for any good class and instruction. It is designed to be used by those who have accomplished good working skills and a well rounded background in Bushcraft. I think it is the idea and goal of the author to set a more rigid set of principals that need to be taught by any and all who wish to teach and pass on Bush knowledge. This is my own feelings as well. I hope those who are interested will find this just as useful as I do!

A course syllabus for the experienced instructor. Lots of organization for a course and points to all of the needed key concepts but the detail is expected to be in the mind of the instructor or found in some of his other resources. This is a great companion book to go with his other books.

I wasn’t sure what to expect going into it but this isn’t a book about getting into kink or practicing BDSM, this is a book about female empowerment. The author, Lux Alani, takes five key aspects of women’s everyday life; authenticity, confidence, body image, resilience, and fear and turns these into a journey of self-love and empowerment. What woman doesn’t need more self-love in their life? Lux Alani’s writing is quirky and warm, making these topics easily readable for even the shyest of women. This journey is about finding your true inner strength and giving yourself permission to be who you truly are. A fresh take on female empowerment that I liked as well. The writing is fierce, warm, and quirky. You have to see and feel the linen cover and illustrations to get the artistry, and I can easily see women carrying this little book with them to read, or re-read, many times.

It's short and to the point and can be read in one sitting. Ms. Vanderslice shares some interesting and valuable trade secrets that I would never have known!

Kessler I started The Frugal Publicist with the notion that I would read it for 10-15 minutes and then move on to something else. My plan was to read the entire book over a week's time. But after the first 5 minutes, I was hooked. I couldn't stop reading...and taking notes. I work extremely hard at publicizing my books. I speak at conventions, write a blog, host a radio show, sell at all sorts of fests and art shows. In short, I thought I knew how to promote my work. But honestly, this book taught me things I hadn't considered...such as E-bates, for example. Even after 8 years of promoting my work, day in and day out, I learned a lot.I'm a self-confessed "book snob," and I don't enjoy books that aren't well-written. Even "how to" books must be interesting and well-crafted. And I was prepared for this book to be good, but not great. I was wrong. It's GREAT. It's funny, informative, engaging, and detailed. The Frugal Publicist is quite simply "a good read."If you've written a book and you want that book to sell that gem of yours, The Frugal Publicist is a volume that you need to read. Now.Try this: begin Vanderslice's book. You will not be able to put it down. I promise.

Having been in the book biz for over 5 years, I've found that you make a lot of mistakes & it's frustrating to know where to turn for answers. You can pay people big money for this information. But - Jennifer Vanderslice has answered all of the questions for you & provided you with the necessary connections that will save you money and time. Her book is very clean & organized, and direct to the point. I promise that if you are looking for answers...this will be the best money you can spend!

She lives in Los Angeles when she’s not making new friends in other parts of the world.

Though the premise of the book is really to help those learning English to not be afraid to share their thoughts, I found myself drawn in by not just the exercises that Lisa poses but the questions she has the reader pondering as well.Here are just some of the ones that really spoke to me:What gifts do you have to offer another?How has compassion for others changed your life?Fear of pain and loss: When has it stopped you from moving forward?How has pain shaped you?When has your own commitment to succeed won out over fear?Did you need to be extraordinary?When has an open mind been your greatest asset?By going through these questions and allowing the words to come, you are not only sure to create something amazing but realize more about yourself in the process.

I purchased and read Ms. Doctor’s book thinking it would give me some insight into the ESL (English as second language) experience. I do a little work in that area. What I didn’t expect was the help and insight it would provide me in my own pursuits as a novelist. (English is my first language.) Language learning aside, the writing prompts Ms. Doctor has created for her method rival what I suspect one would receive from a shrink or therapist – and very good shrinks and therapists at that. And at 1/10th the price or less per hour! I had never thought of my mother or father or first friends or my childhood in the way that Ms. Doctor’s book provoked in me. I’m still thinking about those things now. The same goes for relationships and adult emotions as illicit through the 'Doctor method'. Be prepared with tissue in hand!The poetry her method elicited from her students was delightful to read as well. And truly artful.Those lucky enough to study under Ms. Doctor would still benefit from the program she outlines in her book. And those who aren’t able to attend her classes should definitely get their hands on this.P.S. the illustrations are really nice, too.
